1. THE GAME
Welcome to the 2012 CALDER CUP CHALLENGE (the “Contest”).
This contest is a game of skill designed to test one’s own prognostication skills when it comes to predicting the performance of various hockey players and teams during the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs. From all eligible entries received, winners will be determined based on their ability to use their skill and knowledge of American Hockey League teams and players and related rules to accumulate the most Points in accordance with the Scoring System as described below and these Official Rules. This Contest is provided solely for entertainment purposes and cannot be used in conjunction with any form of gambling.
The Contest commences with the first 2012 Calder Cup Playoff game (date TBD, Approx Wed, April 18) and closes immediately after the completion of the last game of the Calder Cup Finals (the “Contest Period”).
This Contest is administered by the American Hockey League (“AHL”). All decisions of the Contest Sponsors are final and binding in all matters as they relate to this Contest.
Contest is open to residents of the United States and Canada. Void in Quebec and Florida and in other jurisdictions where prohibited by law or licensing is required. The Contest is not open to employees and representatives of the AHL, AHL member clubs, including their respective subsidiaries, sponsors, promotional agencies and members of the immediate families of such employees or representatives and persons with whom such employees and representatives are domiciled. For the purposes of this Contest, “immediate family” is defined as parent, child, sibling or any person residing in the same household as, or domiciled with, any such employees or representatives.
3. HOW TO ENTER
How to Enter
NO PURCHASE NECESSARY TO ENTER.
Contestants can preregister for the contest by providing an email address through the sign up page provided at theahl.com. The preregistration period will conclude on Sunday, April 15 after the conclusion of the final 2011-12 AHL regular season game.
REGISTRATION: After the conclusion of the final 2011-12 AHL regular season game or when all 16 playoff teams have been determined, the official registration period will begin. All contestants will need to register through www.theahl.com and provide their contact information and selections through a survey on theahl.com. Contestants that preregister will be sent an email directing them to the official contest survey in which they will submit their selections for the 2012 Calder Cup Challenge.
Entrants must notify Contest Administrators, via e-mail at email@example.com of any change in address or other information associated with their entry. One entry per email address will be accepted.
4. HOW TO PLAY
By using the on-line survey, contestants will select 10 different players and answer 5 “bonus” questions”. Each individual player will be selected from a group of predetermined players and answer the bonus questions to the best of their ability.
In accordance with the Scoring System below, you will, as appropriate, accumulate Contest points (“Points”) based on the outcome you selected for particular players and bonus questions.
Entrants will not be able to change their selections once they have completed their survey and will accumulate points throughout all games in the playoffs.
Contest entries will be allowed for submission until 10 minutes prior to the first 2012 Calder Cup Playoff game. At this time no further entries will be allowed and those that have entered will be the full pool of contestants for the 2012 Calder Cup Challenge.
5. CONTEST ENTRIES
Each contestant’s team will consist of 10 players as follows.
Forward #1 – contestants will select 1 player from 16 that are available in the pool
Forward #2 – contestants will select 1 player from 16 that are available in the pool
Forward #3 – contestants will select 1 player from 16 that are available in the pool
Forward #4 – contestants will select 1 player from 32 that are available in the pool
Forward #5 – contestants will select 1 player from 32 that are available in the pool
Forward #6 – contestants will select 1 player from 32 that are available in the pool
Defenseman #1 – contestants will select 1 player from 16 that are available in the pool
Defenseman #2 – contestants will select 1 player from 16 that are available in the pool
Defenseman #3 – contestants will select 1 player from 32 that are available in the pool
Goaltender #1 –contestants will select 1 player from 32 that are available in the pool
6. SCORING SYSTEM
Contestants will accumulate points based upon their player selections and bonus questions.
The player scoring system will be as follows:
Goal 1 point
Assist 1 point
Win 1 point
Shutout 2 points (in addition to the point for a win)
Bonus Questions: There will be 5 bonus questions that will test contestants’ skills that will be worth 5 points each. Each correct answer will result in points being added to the contestant’s overall score at the conclusion of the 2012 Calder Cup playoffs.
For scoring purposes goaltenders only accumulate points for wins and shutouts.
Scoring will be updated daily on theahl.com.
7. COMPLETE CONTEST SCHEDULE
The 2012 Calder Cup Challenge will consist of all games played during the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs.
8. SELECTING WINNERS AND PRIZES
One (1) prize will be awarded to each of the Top 10 finishers in the Overall Grand Prize contest based on the highest number of Points accumulated throughout the entire Contest period.
A. Overall Prizes
First Overall Grand Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “First Overall Grand Prize” consisting of team autographed 2012 AHL All-Star Goalie Stick and mini Calder Cup trophy proclaiming them the “2012 Calder Cup Challenge Champion”.
Second Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Second Overall Prize” consisting of a team autographed 2012 AHL All-Star Goalie Stick.
Third Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Third Overall Prize” consisting of a team autographed 2012 AHL All-Star Goalie Stick.
Fourth Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Fourth Overall Prize” consisting of a copy of EA Sports NHL 2012 videogame.
Fifth Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Fifth Overall Prize” consisting of a copy of EA Sports NHL 2012 videogame.
Sixth Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Sixth Overall Prize” consisting of an AHL team prize pack.
Seventh Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Seventh Overall Prize” consisting of an AHL team prize pack.
Eighth Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Eighth Overall Prize” consisting of an AHL prize pack.
Ninth Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Ninth Overall Prize” consisting of an AHL prize pack.
Tenth Overall Prize: One (1) Contest entrant will be selected as the winner of the “Tenth Overall Prize” consisting of an AHL prize pack.
Random Winners: In addition to the overall winners, there will be (5) random winners of AHL prize packs for participating in the contest.
Overall Prize Tiebreakers
If two or more of such entrants are tied for a place, then the tie will be broken by using the following tiebreaking system in the order listed:
- The entrant that correctly selected the winning team in the 2012 Calder Cup Finals.
- The entrant whose individual player who scored most points of all player selections.
- In the event of a tie among players who have scored the most points the next highest player total will be taken into consideration from each entry until a tie is broken.
- The entrant who is closest to guessing the total number of overtime games in the 2012 Calder Cup playoffs.
- A random draw from all remaining tied entries.
Standings and Results
Unofficial updates will be posted daily (Mon.- Fri.) on-line at www.theahl.com
Overall Contest and Overall Prizes
Unofficial overall Contest results and potential Overall Prize winners will be posted on-line at www.theahl.com on the day following the Contest Period (the “Unofficial Overall Results Date”) and will become official one week after such posting.
Official Standings and Results
In the event there is a discrepancy please notify the AHL at the following e-mail address: firstname.lastname@example.org within the one week period. Otherwise, one week after the conclusion of the 2012 Calder Cup Playoffs the results will be deemed official.
9. GENERAL TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The AHL, and any organization associated with (directly or indirectly) AHL, is not responsible for technical, hardware or software failures of any kind; lost or unavailable network connections; failed, incomplete, misdirected, garbled or delayed computer transmissions, or any other situation that may limit a registered player's ability to compete in the 2012 CALDER CUP CHALLENGE. All entry forms become the property of the AHL. In any dispute, the decisions of the AHL will be final and binding on all parties. The decision of the judges is final.
Winners and Prizes
All prizewinners will be posted online following the contest period. For the purpose of awarding any of the Grand Prizes it is the sole responsibility of the contestant to inform the AHL via the above e-mail address within one week of the final game of the Calder Cup Finals, of any discrepancy with his/her Contest Entry Form.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: All prizewinners are unofficial for a one week period after the completion of a given contest period. In the event there is a discrepancy please notify the AHL at the following email address: email@example.com within the one week period, otherwise it will be assumed the standings are correct and the standings and prize winners will become official.
The American Hockey League (AHL) is responsible for prizes and prize fulfillment. Prizes are not transferable or redeemable in money or any other service. The AHL reserves the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value; to unilaterally disqualify entries; to modify contest rules; and to cancel the contest at any time, without liability. Winners will be contacted within 6 to 8 weeks of the completion of the 2012 Calder Cup Finals.
Prizewinners are responsible for all federal, state/provincial and local taxes levied on the prizes.
Prizewinners may be required to answer a time-limited, mathematical skill-testing question. Prizewinners may be required to provide a social security or tax identification number for tax purposes. Winners grant the AHL the right to use their names in advertising and promoting the game without any compensation. Winners release the AHL and others involved, its advertisers, suppliers and other companies affiliated with these contests, from all liability for all damages or personal injuries in connection with the winner's use of the prize goods and services.
PLEASE NOTE: In the event that a potential Contest prizewinner is disqualified from eligibility or cannot be contacted by the Contest Sponsors within the Winner Contact Period, the Contest Sponsors shall have the right to choose another potential Contest prize winner who has accumulated the next highest total number of Points, whom they shall attempt to contact, and who shall be subject to disqualification, in the same manner. The Contest Sponsors shall be fully and completely released and discharged from any liability or responsibility in connection with the disqualification of failure to contact a potential winner within the Winner Contact Period.
By entering the contest you acknowledge agreement of the contest rules. Chances of winning are dependent upon the skill used in making your selections and the total number of entries received.
