Columbus names Noel head coach

The Columbus Blue Jackets have relieved head coach Ken Hitchcock of his duties and named former Calder Cup-winning coach Claude Noel as the club's interim head coach, club general manager Scott Howson announced today.

The American Hockey League today announced that Lowell Devils defenseman Olivier Magnan has been suspended for two (2) games as a result of his actions in a game at Worcester on Jan. 31.

AHL action coming to XM Radio

The AHL announced today that 12 games are scheduled to be heard live on XM Satellite Radio's all-hockey NHL Home Ice channel later this month. XM will begin a two-week stretch of AHL coverage on Tuesday, Feb. 16, with a battle between the Worcester Sharks and the Springfield Falcons.

The American Hockey League announced today that Milwaukee Admirals center Colin Wilson has been named the Reebok/AHL Rookie of the Month for January. In 17 games during a busy month, Wilson tallied seven goals and 13 assists for 20 points along with a plus-5 rating.

Wolves' Mannino is top goalie for January

The American Hockey League announced today that Peter Mannino of the Chicago Wolves has been named the Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month for January. Mannino was 6-1-0 with a 1.28 goals-against average, a .958 save percentage and one shutout for the month.

Bernier named AHL Player of the Week

The American Hockey League announced today that Manchester Monarchs goaltender Jonathan Bernier has been named the Reebok/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Jan. 31, 2010. Bernier stopped 85 of 87 shots in three appearances, finishing the week with consecutive shutouts.
