(icehogs.com) — A franchise-record losing streak grew longer on Sunday for the Rockford IceHogs as they failed to hold a third-period lead in a 3-2 defeat to the Houston Aeros at the Toyota Center.

Rockford has now dropped six straight games, including their fourth straight one-goal affair. Sunday’s loss also marked the first time this season that the IceHogs failed to keep a lead when they had one entering the third period.

In the third, the Aeros tied the game at 2-2 in transition. Rockford won an offensive-zone faceoff, but Jake Dowell stripped Brandon Pirri and led Brett Bulmer on a rush were he sniped his second goal of the season over the shoulder, short side, of Carter Hutton.

Just 58 seconds later, Houston went on top. Chay Genoway led another transition rush and set up the game-winning strike with David McIntyre. From on top of the right faceoff circle McIntyre fired a shot that Hutton tried to squeeze, but it snuck through, under his arm and in for the deciding tally at 14:40.

After getting blanked on Friday in San Antonio, Rockford hopped on the board early on Sunday. On a power play, Jimmy Hayes snapped a shot past Darcy Kuemper from the right wing, beating him far post under the blocker for his 13th goal of the season at 5:28.

Kyle Beach later made it 2-0 with his 10th goal on the campaign. Klas Dahlbeck found Beach in front of Kuemper and the Houston goal where Beach buried the Hogs second tally of the afternoon.

Late in the opening frame Houston, made it 2-1. Kyle Medvec‘s point shot was partially knocked down by Hutton, but the puck snuck under the Hogs goalie and in at 19:39 for Medvec’s third goal of the season.

Rockford outshot the Aeros 36-26 and held them to 0-for-5 on the power play, but it didn’t add up to a win for the Hogs.
