AHL announces suspensions

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League today announced the following suspensions:
 
San Antonio Rampage left wing Peter Vandermeer has been suspended for five (5) games and Peoria Rivermen right wing Hans Benson has been suspended for one (1) game as a result of their actions during an AHL game between the teams on Apr. 11.
 
Vandermeer received an automatic three-game suspension under AHL Rule 23.3 for accumulating his fifth game misconduct in the general category this season; and an automatic two-game suspension under AHL Rule 47.10 for accumulating his fourth instigating misconduct this season. He will miss San Antonio’s games today vs. Quad City and Sunday (Apr. 13) vs. Quad City, as well as San Antonio’s first three Calder Cup Playoff games.
 
Benson received an automatic one-game suspension under AHL Rule 23.3 for accumulating his third game misconduct in the general category this season. He will miss Peoria’s game today vs. Iowa.
 
Rochester Americans defenseman Mike Funk has been suspended for one (1) game as a result of his actions during an AHL game vs. Syracuse on Apr. 11.
 
Funk received an automatic one-game suspension under AHL Rule 23.3 for accumulating his third game misconduct in the general category this season.
 
Funk will miss Hamilton’s game today at Toronto.
