Charlotte can become the first team to advance to the second round of this year’s Calder Cup Playoffs with a Game 4 win tonight at Allstate Arena… The Checkers grabbed a 2-1 series lead with a 4-3 win on Sunday afternoon as Connor Brickley scored 9:28 into overtime… It was the first goal of the postseason for Brickley, who led Charlotte with six game-winning goals during the regular season… Brickley recorded a goal and two assists in Game 3, his first three points of the series… Philip Samuelsson, also scoreless in Games 1 and 2, tallied a goal and an assist on Sunday… Tom McCollum (2-1, 1.92, .938) stopped 38 shots in Game 3… Kenny Agostino, the AHL’s leading scorer in the regular season, notched his first two career playoff points with a goal and an assist… Wolves defensemen Chris Butler and Jordan Schmaltz each recorded two assists in Game 3… Sunday marked the Checkers’ first win at Allstate Arena in five visits this season… Chicago is 16-8 all-time when facing elimination from the Calder Cup Playoffs, including 9-4 at home.

All eight teams remaining in the 2017 Stanley Cup Playoffs are being guided by former AHL head coaches, including Calder Cup champions Barry Trotz (Washington), Peter Laviolette (Nashville) and Todd McLellan (Edmonton)… AHL Hall of Fame member John Stevens, who was on three Calder Cup winning teams as a player before coaching Philadelphia to the 2005 championship, was named head coach of the Los Angeles Kings on Sunday.

April 25, 1992 – Bruce Boudreau scores what would be the last goal of his professional career, helping the Adirondack Red Wings to a 5-3 win at Springfield in Game 1 of their second-round series.
April 25, 1964 – The Cleveland Barons cap a perfect 9-0 playoff run with a 5-2 win over the Quebec Aces, capturing the franchise’s ninth and final Calder Cup championship.
