The second round of the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs gets underway tonight as Chicago hosts Grand Rapids in Game 1 of the Central Division Finals… It’s the first postseason meeting between the rivals since 2004… The Wolves edged the Griffins by a single point in the regular-season standings to earn home-ice advantage in this series… Grand Rapids has won 18 of the last 23 meetings between the clubs, including an 8-2-0-0 mark this season… The Wolves and Griffins have both been off since last Wednesday, when Chicago defeated Charlotte in their decisive Game 5 and Grand Rapids finished a three-game sweep of Milwaukee… Adam Musil (3-2-5), Samuel Blais (2-3-5) and regular-season AHL scoring champion Kenny Agostino (2-3-5) led the Wolves’ offense in the first round… Ville Husso (3-2, 2.34, .925) allowed 12 goals on 160 shots vs. Charlotte… Tyler Bertuzzi (2-2-4) and Evgeny Svechnikov (1-3-4) paced the Griffins in scoring last round, and Kyle Criscuolo‘s overtime goal in Game 3 clinched the series win… Sixteen of Grand Rapids’ 18 skaters recorded at least one point in the first round… Jared Coreau (3-0, 2.10, .931) stopped 94 of 101 shots in the sweep… The Griffins were 12-for-39 (30.8 percent) on the power play in 10 regular-season games against Chicago… The Wolves’ penalty killing is a perfect 10-for-10 this postseason.

May 3, 2002 – The final game ever played at Hersheypark Arena goes to the Houston Aeros, as Jamie McLennan stops 32 shots in a series-clinching 7-1 win over Hershey.

May 3, 1997 – In a game that features 11 goals, five goaltenders and a league-record 350 penalty minutes, Philadelphia defeats Hershey, 7-4, in Game 2 of the Mid-Atlantic Division final.
