2014 Calder Cup Finals - Game 3 - 6:00 ET | Broadcast Information
Following a long day of travel for both teams, the Texas Stars and St. John's IceCaps resume the 2014 Calder Cup Finals with Game 3 tonight at Mile One Centre... The teams traveled on Tuesday, going from Austin to St. John's with a stop in Portsmouth, N.H., to refuel -- flying a total of 2,905 miles (4,676 km)... The IceCaps held on for a 2-1 win back in Cedar Park on Monday night, evening the best-of-seven series at a game apiece... Michael Hutchinson (12-6, 1.77, .943) made 49 saves for St. John's in Game 2, the most by a goalie in a regulation Calder Cup Finals game since Felix Potvin stopped 50 of 52 shots for the St. John's Maple Leafs in Game 6 of the 1992 Finals at the Adirondack Red Wings... Hutchinson is 6-0 following a loss this postseason, allowing five goals on 204 shots (.975)... Kael Mouillierat (5-5-10) and Blair Riley (2-3-5) scored for the IceCaps on Monday... Brendan Ranford (8-4-12) tallied the only goal for the Stars, his first in 10 games after opening the playoffs with seven goals in eight contests... Cristopher Nilstorp (10-5, 2.20, .916) stopped 33 shots in the defeat, and enters Game 3 with a 4-0 record following his first four playoff losses... Nilstorp has not lost consecutive decisions (excluding shootouts) since a personal four-game losing streak from Oct. 26 to Nov. 13... Travis Morin's Game 2 assist gave him sole possession of the AHL playoff scoring lead (6-12-18)... The Stars finished with a 50-35 advantage in shots on goal, taking at least 50 shots for the fourth time in their last nine games (2-2)... St. John's rebounded from a Game 1 loss with a Game 2 win for the third series in a row; all three wins were by 2-1 scores... The IceCaps were 0-for-1 on the power play in Game 2, falling to 0-for-5 in the series... The Stars did not have a power play chance in Game 2 after going 1-for-2 in the opener... When a Calder Cup Finals series has been tied 1-1, the Game 3 winner has gone on to take the Cup 23 of 33 previous times (69.7 percent).
