LOOKING AHEAD:
Clinging to a one-point lead atop the North Division, Hamilton welcomes Lake Erie to Copps Coliseum tonight in the opener of a three-game homestand… The Bulldogs are coming off a 1-3-0-0 road trip and are playing at home for the first time since a 3-2 win over Lake Erie on Dec. 30… Hamilton is just 8-10-0-1 since racing out to a 13-3-1-3 start to the year by Nov. 26… J.T. Wyman is the Bulldogs’ hottest scorer; the third-year pro is coming off consecutive two-goal efforts and shows 6-0-6 in his last five games after totaling four goals in his first 33 outings this season… Dustin Boyd has just one goal in the four games since his seven-game goal-scoring run (10-0-10) came to an end… Led by 2011 AHL All-Star goaltender Curtis Sanford (13-7-1, 1.82, .936), the Bulldogs rank fifth in team defense (2.51 goals allowed per game)… Lake Erie, which is just 6-13-1-2 on the road in 2010-11, sits six points back of the North Division’s final guaranteed playoff spot… Ben Walter paces the Monsters with 28 points (10-18-28) overall and also shows a team-best five points (3-2-5) in three clashes with Hamilton, two of which have resulted in Lake Erie victories… Named a 2011 AHL All-Star on Tuesday, Monsters forward Ryan Stoa (14-11-25) has netted a goal in four of his last five contests (4-2-6)… Lake Erie has scored eight shorthanded goals, tied for second in the AHL.

Atlantic Division-leading Manchester continues its nine-game road swing with games in Charlotte Thursday and Friday nights before traveling up to Binghamton for a Saturday night tilt… The Monarchs are an even 2-2-0-0 on the trip thus far following Sunday’s 4-3 overtime triumph at Bridgeport… Defenseman Viatcheslav Voynov nabbed the game-winner in that one, part of a two-goal effort for the 2011 AHL All-Star… Voynov is now tied for second among AHL rearguards with 29 points (8-21-29) in 37 games overall… Bud Holloway has a goal in two straight games (2-0-2) and four of six (4-0-4) for the Monarchs, and rookie goaltender Martin Jones (14-3-0) continues to lead the AHL in goals-against average (1.75) while ranking second in save percentage (.943)… Manchester earned a 2-1 home-ice victory back on Oct. 24 in these teams’ only prior meeting to date… Charlotte is coming off a 2-1 win in Norfolk on Tuesday, which put the Checkers (22-13-1-4) two points up on the Admirals for second place in the East Division… Chris Terry is riding a four-game scoring streak (3-1-4) for the Checkers, while Brandon Sutter shows a point in his last three outings (1-2-3)… 2011 AHL All-Star Jerome Samson (20-20-40) leads Charlotte in both goals and points and has clinched his fourth straight 20-goal season.

Sitting just one point back of Peoria for first place in the West Division, Milwaukee visits Manitoba – and former head coach Claude Noel – for a two-game set on Thursday and Saturday… The Admirals bring a four-game winning streak to town, one shy of their season-best five-game run achieved from Nov. 5-13… Milwaukee rookie Blake Geoffrion has totaled 4-5-9 in 16 games since returning from injury and notched the game-winner in the Admirals’ 3-2 triumph over Hamilton on Sunday… Milwaukee leading scorer Linus Klasen (16-13-29) has a point in five of his last six AHL tilts (3-4-7), a stretch broken up by NHL recall to Nashville… The Admirals’ Mark Dekanich (15-5-3, 1.77, .938) and the Moose’s Eddie Lack (13-8-2, 2.07, .926) are both among the AHL’s top performing goaltenders through the first half of 2010-11… Sergei Shirokov has a goal in five straight games (6-0-0) and nine of his last 10 (9-2-11) for the Moose, who have used a 9-2-0-0 surge since Dec. 14 to pull within a point of first-place Hamilton in the North Division… Manitoba’s Marco Rosa has found the scoresheet in seven of his last eight contests (4-6-10)… The Moose, who dropped a 6-3 decision in Milwaukee on Dec. 1, have lost five in a row to the Admirals overall since earning a 4-2 road victory on Feb. 24, 2009.
