LOOKING AHEAD:
Syracuse begins a two-day swing through Illinois with a match-up against West-leading Chicago at the Allstate Arena on Tuesday… The Crunch have won consecutive games for the first time all season, but are without leading scorer Joakim Lindstrom (11-13-24), who was recalled by the parent Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday… Former Wolves captain Derek MacKenzie, who spent six seasons with Chicago (2001-07), tallied three points in Syracuse’s 5-2 win at Lake Erie on Sunday… Chicago’s 3.67 goals per game is best in the league, and their average of 2.33 goals allowed ranks second-best… Jesse Schultz (10-15-25) and Steve Martins (8-17-25) share the team scoring lead and are also tied for sixth in the league… 2006-07 AHL rookie of the year Brett Sterling paces the Wolves with 11 goals in just 13 games… Sterling and Alexandre Giroux (8-12-20) each netted a pair of goals in Chicago’s 5-2 win at Syracuse on Nov. 9.

Also Tuesday, Iowa looks to improve on a three-game winning streak when it hosts Manitoba at the Wells Fargo Arena for the second time in five days… The Stars took a 4-0 win from the Moose last Friday, as Tobias Stephan made 21 saves for his first shutout of the season… Stephan owns a 1.34 GAA and .943 save percentage over his last three games (3-0-0)… Center Toby Petersen is tied for third in the league in points (27) and tied for second in goals (13)… Third-year pro Janos Vas has a goal in three straight games (3-1-4) and four of his last five (4-2-6)… Manitoba is finishing up a season-high seven-game road swing (3-2-1-0)… Jason Jaffray leads the club with eight goals (8-9-17), including four in his last four games… Leading scorer Colby Genoway (7-13-20) has notched six of his seven goals on the power play… Goaltender Drew MacIntyre is 5-1-0 in his last six starts, with Iowa the only team to beat him in that stretch.

Hartford visits Providence on Wednesday in a battle of the Atlantic Division’s top two teams… The Wolf Pack have won five straight games and 11 of their last 13 (11-2-0-0), but have dropped both meetings with the Bruins this season… Pierre-Alexandre Parenteau has a point in nine of his last 10 games (6-8-14), and he leads Hartford with 11 goals and 23 points overall… Nigel Dawes has five goals and six assists in six games since returning from the New York Rangers… Shouldering the load in place of an injured Al Montoya, rookie goaltender Miika Wiikman is out to a 6-0-0 start to his North American pro career… Providence has won three straight and is in the midst of a 10-game homestand… Leading scorer Pascal Pelletier (11-12-23) has three goals in his last two games, and Boston College product Chris Collins is riding a four-game scoring streak (3-2-5), including a goal in three straight outings… T.J.
