In Thursday’s only AHL action, Brett Sterling notched a hat trick, including the overtime winner, as Chicago edged Peoria by a 4-3 final… On Wednesday, Mike Angelidis tallied three points (2-1-3) and Michael Leighton picked up his league-leading fourth shutout as Albany blanked Norfolk, 7-0… Rob Schremp’s overtime goal lifted Springfield past Providence, 2-1.

LOOKING AHEAD:
East-leading Philadelphia embarks on a three-game weekend swing through the North Division, stopping in Hamilton (Friday), Lake Erie (Saturday), and Toronto (Sunday)… The Phantoms have been off since a 6-0 blanking of Hershey on Nov. 24… It marked goaltender Brian Boucher’s first win in three starts since returning from injury, and six different skaters scored in the victory… Third-year pro Alexandre Picard, who played 62 NHL games last season with the parent Flyers, has a goal in three straight contests and 10 points (4-6-10) in his last nine… Hamilton rookie Sergei Kostitsyn ranks fourth in AHL rookie scoring with 19 points (5-14-19)… Fellow first-year winger Greg Stewart has a goal in consecutive games and a point in three straight (2-1-3)… Goaltender Jaroslav Halak went 2-0-0 with a 1.44 GAA in two games against the Phantoms last season.

Rockford makes its first-ever visit to New England with games in Providence on Friday and Manchester on Saturday… The IceHogs are winners of two straight games, with goaltender Corey Crawford stopping 62 of 63 shots (.984) in the victories… Rockford leading scorer Martin St. Pierre, who was scoreless in Wednesday’s 3-0 win over Houston, has not gone without a point in consecutive regular-season games since Jan. 13-15, 2007… Former Bruin Kris Versteeg scored two goals for the IceHogs on Wednesday in his return from a stint with the parent Chicago Blackhawks… Providence (14-3-2-0) is looking to snap its first two-game winless skid of the season in the first of three straight home tilts this weekend… After being scratched from seven straight games, Wacey Rabbit has a four-game scoring streak for the B’s.

Grand Rapids kicks off a three-game weekend with a trip to San Antonio on Friday… The Griffins have have picked up six of their seven victories this season on the road (6-4-0-1)… Mark Hartigan, who leads the club with 11 goals (11-6-17), has notched one in three of his last four outings (4-1-5) and earned a one-game recall to parent-club Detroit on Thursday… Leading scorer Mark Cullen (6-14-20) has a point in four straight (1-5-6)… San Antonio is 1-1-0-0 so far on a season-high 11-game homestand after splitting two meetings with Milwaukee… The Rampage have scored a league-leading 79 goals, led by Joey Tenute with 12… Joel Perrault is tops on the club with 22 points (11-11-22) in 23 games… Rampage head coach Greg Ireland led the Griffins to a 109-73-10 record over three seasons, including a league-best 55-20-1-4 mark in 2005-06.

Zdeno Chara, a 1998 AHL All-Star, scored a pair of goals on Thursday in Boston’s 4-3 win at Florida… Fellow 1998 AHL All-Star Marc Savard assisted on both of Chara’s goals… Dustin Byfuglien, an Rbk/AHL Player of the Week earlier this season with Rockford, tallied his third NHL goal of the season in Chicago’s 5-1 win over Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
