LOOKING AHEAD:
Two teams heading in opposite directions collide at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center on Friday when Providence hosts Portland in the rivals’ fourth meeting in the last 14 days… The Bruins have earned points in 10 straight games (9-0-0-1), outscoring their opponents by a 47-23 count… The Pirates, meanwhile, have lost six in a row and are 3-10-1-2 since Dec. 23, falling four points out of the last playoff spot in the Atlantic Division… Portland is 13-for-47 (27.7%) on the power play in the season series; Providence is 14-for-55 (25.5%)… Bruins forwards Pascal Pelletier (7g, 6a) and Kris Versteeg (5g, 8a) share the scoring lead with 13 points each against the Pirates… Additions to the Portland lineup over the last week include forwards Joe Motzko and Shane Endicott and defensemen Joe Rullier and Eric Weinrich.

An intriguing interdivisional matchup sends Hershey to the Hartford Civic Center on Friday night… At 29-9-4-5, the Bears have the fewest regulation losses in the league, but the Wolf Pack have won five in a row and are 12-1-1-0 since Dec. 31 and 22-6-2-0 in their last 30 games… Ryan Callahan, who scored the winning goal to lift PlanetUSA over Hershey head coach Bruce Boudreau’s Canadian team at Monday’s AHL All-Star Game, has seven goals in his last seven games for Hartford… Al Montoya has won nine of his last 10 starts for the Pack… Dave Steckel has seven goals and an assist in his last six games for Hershey… The Bears’ Alexandre Giroux, Chad Wiseman and Dean Arsene are all former Wolf Pack players.

Manitoba tries to snap a four-game losing streak when Chicago visits the MTS Centre for games on Friday and Saturday… The Moose’s skid comes on the heels of a stretch during which they earned points in 12 straight games, but they are still 9-1-1-1 in their last dozen home outings… Manitoba won the only previous meeting this season between the teams, a 7-4 decision on Oct. 24 in which Jason Jaffray scored four goals… After losing five in a row and seven of eight, Chicago is on a 4-0-0-2 run, scoring 30 goals in those six games… Cory Larose has recorded points in eight straight contests for the Wolves (6g, 10a)… An NHL trade between Atlanta and Tampa Bay has sent Andy Delmore, the AHL’s leader with 12 goals this season, and Andre Deveaux to the Wolves from Springfield in exchange for Kyle Wanvig and Stephen Baby.
