LOOKING AHEAD:
Peoria, winners of 13 of its last 15 games, clashes with intra-state rival Rockford on Friday at Carver Arena… The Rivermen enter the weekend just three points behind the West-leading IceHogs… Peoria has scored a power-play goal in five straight games (5-for-19), and its penalty-killing unit has been successful in 36 of 37 shorthanded situations (97.3 percent) over its last 10 outings… Charles Linglet paces the Rivermen with 47 points (17-30-47), and his 17 goals are tied for the team lead with Julian Talbot (17-17-34)… Linglet (1-6-7) and Martin Kariya (4-4-8) each have four-game scoring streaks, and goaltender Chris Beckford-Tseu is 8-1-0 with a 2.20 GAA in his last nine starts… The IceHogs are without leading scorer Martin St. Pierre (16-46-62), recalled by parent-club Chicago following his three-point effort in Monday’s AHL All-Star Game… Corey Crawford is 7-1-0 in his last eight decisions and leads the league with 23 wins.

Hamilton visits the MTS Centre in Winnipeg for a two-game weekend set with Manitoba beginning on Friday… The Moose are 8-1-0-1 hosting the Bulldogs in the regular season since the start of the 2005-06 season, but Hamilton won three games in Winnipeg to capture the North Division Final last spring… The ’Dogs are just five points behind the second-place Moose in the North Division entering the weekend… Hamilton has won five of its last six on the road, but is coming off back-to-back shutout losses to Quad City and Syracuse… 2008 AHL All-Star Corey Locke leads the Bulldogs with 16 goals, 20 assists, and 36 points… Duncan Milroy has a pair of goals (2-1-3) in four games against Manitoba this season, and his plus-10 rating overall is a team high… The Moose enter 7-2-0-0 in their last nine home games and are 12-3-1-0 at the MTS Centre against divisional foes… Brad Moran has a point in six of his last seven games (2-5-7).

Bridgeport looks to build on a three-game winning streak in a divisional battle at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Friday… This is just the second of eight meetings on the season between the rivals, and the first since a 6-1 Penguins win on Oct. 20… The Sound Tigers sit seven points back of a trio of teams, including Wilkes-Barre, who currently occupy the final three East Division playoff spots… 2008 AHL All-Star Jeff Tambellini has an AHL-high 26 goals (26-27-53) for the Sound Tigers, including 20 over his last 22 outings… Ben Walter boasts a seven-game scoring streak (2-6-8) and has a point in 10 of his last 11 outings (4-8-12)… Tim Brent paces the Penguins with 35 points (7-28-35)… Wilkes-Barre has the AHL’s best penalty kill at 87.3 percent, and the Pens have allowed just one power-play goal over their last 11 games (30-for-31; 96.8%).

On Thursday, Matt Moulson scored a goal and two-time AHL outstanding goaltender Jason LaBarbera made 28 saves to help Los Angeles drop the N.Y. Islanders, 3-1… Stephen Valiquette, who shared the AHL’s Harry “Hap” Holmes Award with LaBarbera in 2005, earned his first NHL shutout in the N.Y. Rangers’ 4-0 win over Philadelphia… Andrei Kostitsyn and Sergei Kostitsyn became the first brothers to score in the same game for Montreal since Frank and Pete Mahovlich in 1974… On Wednesday, Tomas Plihal scored his first NHL goal in San Jose’s 5-4 loss to Calgary.
