On Tuesday, Iowa’s Janos Vas scored the game’s only goal and Tobias Stephan posted a 29-save shutout as the Stars blanked Milwaukee, 1-0… The next night, Derrick Walser scored a pair of goals to lead Toronto to a 3-2 win at Albany, and San Antonio’s Bill Thomas also lit the lamp twice in the Rampage’s 5-3 victory over Syracuse… On Thursday, Marek Zagrapan netted two goals in the second period to propel Rochester over Grand Rapids, 3-1.

LOOKING AHEAD:
AHL hockey debuts in Rockford on Friday night when the IceHogs open the home portion of their season vs. San Antonio… Rockford finished 5-3-1-0 on a season-opening nine-game road trip, including a 4-2 win over the Rampage on Oct. 16… The IceHogs are led on scoring by defenseman Prestin Ryan, who has tallied three goals and eight points… Petri Kontiola has also registered eight points (1-7-8) for Rockford… The Rampage come in unbeaten in regulation (5-0-0-1) when they score the game’s first goal but winless (0-3-0-1) when they allow it… Center Joel Perrault has a three-game scoring streak (1-3-4), and leading point-scorer Bill Thomas is coming off a three-point showing (2-1-3) vs. Syracuse on Wednesday.

The Atlantic Division’s two co-leaders lock horns on Friday when Providence travels to take on Springfield… The Bruins have won six of their first seven games (6-1-0-0), all on the road… Rookie goaltender Tuukka Rask, a first-round draft pick in 2005, is out to a 5-1-0 start… Second-year pro Petteri Nokelainen has a point in each of his first six games in a P-Bruins uniform (3-4-7), and is tied for the team scoring lead with Martins Karsums (2-5-7) and Pascal Pelletier (2-5-7)… Springfield, which comes in at 5-3-0-2, is trying to snap a three-game winless skid as it kicks off a four-game homestand… Winger Liam Reddox is tied for the Falcons’ team lead with nine points (4-5-9), while fellow rookie Colin McDonald brings a three-game points streak (1-2-3) into Friday’s action.

Philadelphia, the AHL leader in points with 16 (8-1-0-0), hits the road for a three-game weekend New England tour to Portland, Worcester and Lowell… Jared Ross, who is tied with rookie Jonathan Matsumoto for the team lead in goals (5) and points (11), notched a hat trick in a 3-2 win over Springfield last Saturday… Portland enters Friday’s meeting with a 3-0-1-0 record in its last four games… Bobby Ryan, the second overall pick in the 2005 draft, has a goal in consecutive games for the Pirates… Saturday’s game will mark the first-ever game meeting the Phantoms and Sharks… Mike Iggulden heads into the weekend with a point in all six games for Worcester thus far (4-5-9).
