Avalanche acquire Bacashihua from Blues

The Colorado Avalanche, parent club of the AHL’s Lake Erie Monsters, announced Thursday the acquisition of goaltender Jason Bacashihua from the St. Louis Blues.

Bacashihua has been assigned to Lake Erie.

Bacashihua, 25, appeared in four games this season with Peoria (AHL), posting a record of 1-3-0 with a 3.17 goals-against average. In 149 career AHL contests, he is 63-65-12 with 11 shutouts. Bacashihua has also made 38 career NHL appearances with the Blues.

The 5-foot-11, 180-pound native of Garden City, Mich., was originally selected by the Dallas Stars in the first round of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

In exchange for the services of Bacashihua, the Avalanche sent St. Louis a conditional seventh round pick in the 2008 Entry Draft.
