Barracuda blank Gulls, win series in five

San Jose wrapped up the Pacific Division Finals in impressive fashion with a 2-0 win over San Diego in Game 5 on Saturday night.

The Barracuda, 0-5 at Valley View Casino Center during the 2016-17 regular season, won three straight games on the Gulls’ home ice to take the series four games to one.

San Jose will face the Grand Rapids Griffins beginning next Saturday in the Western Conference Finals. It will be the first conference finals appearance by the San Jose Sharks’ AHL affiliate since joining the league as the Kentucky Thoroughblades in 1996.

Barclay Goodrow and Adam Helewka scored for the Barracuda in Game 5 and Troy Grosenick (7-3) earned his fourth shutout of the Gulls this season with 34 saves.

Jhonas Enroth (4-6) stopped 33 shots for San Diego, which bowed out in the second round for the second straight postseason.
