Bears add Lewis on blue line

The Hershey Bears announced today that defenseman Grant Lewis has been reassigned by the NHL’s Atlanta Thrashers from the Chicago Wolves to Hershey.

Lewis, 25, was a second-round selection, 40th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by the Thrashers. He has played in 123 games in the American Hockey League, all with Chicago. Lewis made his NHL debut with Atlanta on Mar. 3, 2009, against the Florida Panthers.

A native of Upper St. Clair, Pa., Lewis has one goal and two assists in 26 games with Chicago this season. He recorded 22 assists in 54 games during the 2008-09 season, and as a rookie in 2007-08, he notched two goals and 14 assists in 43 regular-season games and won a Calder Cup championship with the Wolves.

Lewis played four seasons at Dartmouth from 2003-07.
