Bears add veteran defensemen

The Hershey Bears today announced the signing of defensemen Mark Wotton and Dwayne Zinger. As per club policy, terms of the deals were not disclosed.

Zinger, 29, has played the last five-plus seasons in the AHL with Portland and Cincinnati, totaling 19 goals and 45 assists for 64 points in 340 games. The 6-foot-4, 221-pound native of Coronation, Alta., registered four assists and 118 penalty minutes in 58 games with the Pirates in 2004-05.

Zinger has also played seven career NHL games, all with Washington during the 2003-04 season, recording one assist and nine PIM.

Wotton, 31, has appeared in 459 AHL games over eight seasons with Syracuse and Utah, registering 58 goals and 171 assists for 229 points. Wotton, who spent the 2004-05 season in Russia, has also skated in 43 NHL games with Vancouver and Dallas.

A native of Foxwarren, Man., the 5-foot-10, 196-pound Wotton was drafted by the Canucks in 1992.
