Bears outlast Rats for 3-0 series lead

Jay Beagle poked home a loose puck at 16:08 of overtime as Hershey rallied for a 6-5 road win over Albany at the Times Union Center on Tuesday.

The regular-season champion Bears now hold a commanding 3-0 series lead in the East Division Finals and can advance to the conference finals with another win in Albany on Thursday night.

Beagle deflected a shot taken by defenseman Sean Collins, and Albany goaltender Justin Peters made the initial save. But Beagle, who also posted two assists on the night, was there to bury the rebound for his first goal of the postseason.

The Bears trailed in the third period for the third time in as many games this series and for the seventh time in nine playoff games overall, but they came back to win once again.

Chris Bourque put up two goals and an assist for Hershey, and Andrew Gordon (1-1-2), Ashton Rome, and Alexandre Giroux also scored.

Giroux’s goal came tied it up with 3:46 to play in regulation and ultimately sent the contest to overtime. Gordon, meanwhile, now shows a team-best five goals and eight points in three games against Albany this series.

Rookie Zac Dalpe tallied two goals and a helper for the River Rats, and fellow rookie Drayson Bowman posted a goal and an assist.

Mike Angelidis and ex-Bear Oskar Osala also netted goals in the loss, with Jerome Samson contributing a pair of assists.
