(syracuse.com) – Binghamton defenseman Chris Wideman scored twice to carry the Senators past the Syracuse Crunch 5-3 on Thursday in the opening game of a preseason tournament in Lyon, France.

Cody Kunyk, Jerome Samson and Joel Vermin tallied for the Crunch, and Andrei Vasilevskiy went the distance in goal. Binghamton scored five of the last six goals to secure the win.

Kunyk potted his marker in the first and Samson made it 2-0 with a tally in the second. But the Senators ripped off three straight before the middle stanza was over, courtesy of Troy RutkowskiCarter Camper and Wideman.

Vermin tied the game at 3-3 on a score early in the third, a goal that was answered by Wideman a minute late. Daniel New added an insurance goal for Binghamton.
