Binghamton jumped out to an early lead at 2:22 of the first when forward Shane Prince knocked in his second goal in as many games from a pass from Jakob Silfverberg. Center Pat Cannone also registered an assist.

Silfverberg would strike again a few minutes later for the B-Sens, converting a breakaway goal at 6:51 to extend the lead to 2-0.

The Marlies pulled within one at 1:06 of the second frame on forward Carter Ashton’s goal, assisted by Paul Ranger and Keith Aucoin. The B-Sens headed into the third with a 2-1 lead.

Scoring halted until the 5:37 mark of the third period, when Senators defenseman Patrick Wiercioch rifled a shot past Marlies goaltender Ben Scrivens, opening up the lead, 3-1.

The Marlies scored again late in regulation as forward Matt Frattin, assisted by Mike Kostka and Nazem Kadri, scored at 18:30 to cut Binghamton’s lead to one. The B-Sens held on to their 3-2 lead to send the Marlies home with the loss.
