Blues sign four-time AHL All-Star

The St. Louis Blues, parent club of the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen, on Tuesday announced the signing of left wing Jean-Guy Trudel.

Trudel, 31, was named a postseason AHL All-Star in each of his four seasons in the league from 1999-2003, earning two First Team selections and two Second Team nods. He also played in the AHL’s All-Star Classic in 2001, 2002 and 2003, and was a member of the Houston Aeros’ Calder Cup championship team in 2002-03.

A native of Sudbury, Ont., Trudel has recorded 121 goals and 206 assists for 327 points in 307 career AHL games with Houston and Springfield. He finished second in the league in scoring with 99 points in 80 games in 2000-01.

An 11-year pro, Trudel has also appeared in five career NHL contests with Minnesota and Phoenix. He spent two seasons in Peoria when the Rivermen were members of the ECHL, tallying 167 points in 99 games from 1996-98. He played the last four seasons (2003-07) with Ambri Piotta in Switzerland, registering 237 points in 177 games.
