Brennan returns to Toronto

(torontomapleleafs.com) – David Nonis, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Thursday that the hockey club has acquired defenceman T.J. Brennan from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for forward Spencer Abbott. Brennan will report to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.

 

Brennan, 25, has collected 36 points (9 goals, 27 assists) in 54 regular season games with the Rockford IceHogs (AHL affiliate of the Chicago Blackhawks) this season. The Willingboro, New Jersey native has registered 11 points (four goals, seven assists) in 40 career NHL games between the Buffalo Sabres and Florida Panthers.

 

Brennan spent last season with the Toronto Marlies where he led the team with 72 points (25 goals, 47 assists) and was named the AHL’s Eddie Shore Award winner as the league’s most outstanding defenceman. Brennan was originally drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the second round (31st overall) during the 2007 NHL Entry Draft.
