B’s to don Reds sweaters this weekend

The Providence Bruins, entering their 19th season in the American Hockey League, today unveiled their special Rhode Island Reds jerseys for the opening weekend of the AHL’s 75th season.

The P-Bruins will open the 2010-11 campaign at home at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center this Friday, October 8, against the Springfield Falcons at 7:05 p.m. As two of the six founding cities being honored by the AHL during the league’s opening weekend, Providence and Springfield will don Reds and Springfield Indians jerseys, respectively, for each game of a home-and-home set that concludes at the MassMutual Center on Saturday, October 9.

Beginning on Monday, October 11, the P-Bruins will be auctioning off the Reds jerseys on their website, including jerseys for at least 20 players. Among the jerseys to be auctioned are former Boston Bruins Andrew Bodnarchuk, Zach Hamill, Jeff Penner and Jeremy Reich, as well as 2008 first-round draft pick Joe Colborne.
