Bulldogs rally to catch Road Runners

Corey Locke and Tomas Plekanec scored third-period goals to help Hamilton post a 3-2 win over Edmonton at Copps Coliseum on Monday night.

Attendance was 8,092 for the North Division battle.

The Road Runners opened the scoring 14 minutes into the game on a goal by forward Dan Baum, who redirected a pass from Kyle Brodziak home for his third goal of the season.

In the second period, the Road Runners would make it 2-0 on a Raffi Torres rebound that forward Mike Bishai stuffed into the net.

With time winding down in the second period the Bulldogs got on the board on a power play marker by Duncan Milroy. The goal came at 19:04 of the second and ended an 0-for-26 power play drought for Hamilton.

Early in the third period, Locke came on the ice as the extra attacker in a delayed penalty situation and fired a shot into the top corner of the net, tying the game.

Seven minutes later the Bulldogs took the lead on a spectacular effort by Plekanec. Plekanec came down the ice one-on-one, sped past an Edmonton defender and tucked in his eighth of the season. The goal would prove to be the game winner and was the 50th for Plekanec as a member of the Bulldogs.

Yann Danis made 30 saves to earn the win for Hamilton. Jeff Deslauriers stopped 18 shots in the loss.
