sirius-xm_300.jpgSPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Sirius XM Radio and XM Canada will be carrying action from the 2009 Calder Cup Finals on their all-hockey NHL Home Ice channel.

The 2009 Calder Cup Finals are pitting the Manitoba Moose (top development team of the NHL’s Vancouver Canucks) against the Hershey Bears (Washington Capitals). The two finalists’ rosters feature 12 former first- and second-round NHL draft picks and 20 players who skated in the National Hockey League during the 2008-09 season.

The following Finals games are scheduled to be heard on NHL Home Ice:

Sun., June 7 – Manitoba at Hershey, 5:00 ET (Game 4)
Fri., June 12 – Hershey at Manitoba, 8:30 ET (Game 6, if nec., if no NHL)
Sun., June 14 – Hershey at Manitoba, 8:30 ET (Game 7, if nec.)

This is the fourth consecutive year that AHL action has aired on NHL Home Ice, including the annual AHL All-Star Game, the Calder Cup Finals and other regular-season and playoff games.

NHL Home Ice can be found on XM 204 and Sirius 208 on Sirius XM Radio across the United States and Canada. NHL Home Ice provides subscribers with groundbreaking 24/7 hockey talk and is home to live play-by-play coverage of every National Hockey League game during the regular season and the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

In operation since 1936, the AHL continues to serve as the top development league for all 30 National Hockey League teams. More than 84 percent of today’s NHL players are American Hockey League graduates, and this season marks the eighth consecutive year in which more than 6 million fans have attended AHL games.
