Canucks re-sign Bliznak, Zimmerman

The Vancouver Canucks, the NHL affiliate of the AHL’s Manitoba Moose, announced that they have re-signed center Mario Bliznak and defenseman Sean Zimmerman.

Bliznak, 23, made his NHL debut in 2009-10, appearing in two contests with Vancouver. He registered 28 points (13-15-28) and 40 penalty minutes in 76 games with the Manitoba Moose of the AHL before adding three points (2-1-3) in six postseason contests.

The 6’0”, 192 lbs. native of Trencin, Slovakia, who was originally drafted by Vancouver in 2005, shows 44 points (20-24-44) in 140 regular-season games over two professional campaigns with the Moose.

Zimmerman, 23, played 72 games with the San Antonio Rampage last season recording nine points (2-7-9) and 105 penalty minutes. The 6’2”, 200 lbs. defenseman is native of Denver, Colorado and also appeared in 67 AHL games for Lowell during the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons.
