The Washington Capitals, parent club of the AHL’s Hershey Bears, have acquired defenseman Jordan Henry along with a fifth-round pick in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft from the Calgary Flames in exchange for defenseman Dennis Wideman.

Henry, 26, recorded two goals and nine assists for 11 points in 68 AHL games between Abbotsford and Chicago last season. The native of High River, Alta., has appeared in 262 career AHL contests, totaling 66 points.

Henry set career highs in goals (13), assists (18), points (31) and plus/minus (+22) in 76 games with Rochester in 2009-10.

Wideman has played 535 career NHL games with Washington, Florida, Boston and St. Louis. He was an AHL All-Star as a rookie in 2004-05, when he notched 43 points in 79 games for the Worcester IceCats.
