Comets’ Jerrard heading to Calgary

The Calgary Flames announced today that former Utica Comets assistant coach Paul Jerrard will join Glen Gulutzan’s staff to work alongside existing coaches Martin Gelinas, Jamie Pringle and Jordan Sigalet.

Jerrard, 51, heads to Calgary after serving as an assistant coach for the Comets for the past three seasons. Before that, the Winnipeg native served as an assistant under Gulutzan with the Dallas Stars (2011-13) and the AHL’s Texas Stars (2009-11), where the pair reached the Calder Cup Finals in 2010. Jerrard was also an assistant with Colorado (NHL) in 2002-03, and in the AHL with Lowell (1998-99), Hershey (2003-05) and Iowa (2005-09).

As a player, Jerrard spent 10 seasons as a defenseman in professional hockey. He was a member of the Hershey Bears’ 1997 Calder Cup championship team.
