Coyotes acquire Carcillo from Penguins

The Phoenix Coyotes, parent club of the AHL’s San Antonio Rampage, have acquired left wing Daniel Carcillo and a third-round draft choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from the Pittsburgh Penguins in exchange for right wing Georges Laraque.

Carcillo, 22, registered 21 goals and nine assists for 30 points, along with 183 penalty minutes, in 52 games with the American Hockey League’s Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins this season. His 183 PIM ranks third in the AHL.

In 2005-06, Carcillo recorded 11 goals and 13 assists with 311 PIM in 51 games with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton.

He was selected by Pittsburgh in the third round (73rd overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft.

Laraque, who helped the Hamilton Bulldogs to the Calder Cup Finals as a rookie in 1997, recorded five goals, 17 assists and 52 PIM in 56 games with the Coyotes this season. In 546 career games, Laraque has registered 133 points and 878 PIM.
