Coyotes’ AHL coaches not renewed

The Arizona Coyotes announced Monday that the contracts for their American Hockey League coaching staff will not be renewed.

Head coach Ray Edwards, assistant coaches John Slaney and Trent Whitfield, and goaltending coach Alfie Michaud will not return in 2015-16, when the Coyotes begin their new multi-year affiliation agreement with the AHL’s Springfield Falcons.

Edwards had been the head coach of the Coyotes’ AHL affiliates in San Antonio (2009-11) and Portland (2011-15) since taking over 18 games into the 2009-10 season.
