Cunneyworth named interim coach of Habs

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Saturday morning that Jacques Martin has been relieved of his duties.

Randy Cunneyworth has been named interim head coach of the Canadiens until the end of the season. Larry Carriere will become an assistant coach.

Cunneyworth, who was promoted to Montreal as an assistant in July after serving as head coach of the AHL’s Hamilton Bulldogs in 2010-11. Cunneyworth ranks seventh all-time with 350 career wins (350-302-68) in the AHL with Hamilton and Rochester (2000-08).
