Dallas adds Pushkarev in deal with Kings

The Dallas Stars acquired veteran defenseman Mattias Norstrom, right wing Konstantin Pushkarev, a third-round pick in 2007 and a fourth-round pick in 2007 from the Los Angeles Kings in exchange for defenseman Jaroslav Modry, the rights to defenseman Johan Fransson, a first-round pick in 2008, a second-round pick in 2007 and a third-round pick in 2007.

Pushkarev has been assigned to Dallas’s AHL affiliate, the Iowa Stars.

The 22-year-old winger has played in 16 games with the Kings this season, recording two goals and two assists for four points with eight penalty minutes. He also has played in 35 games with the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League this season, recording four goals and 11 assists for 15 points and 29 penalty minutes.

A 6-foot, 180-pound native of Ust Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan, Pushkarev was originally selected by Los Angeles in the second round (44th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. In 77 games with Manchester as a rookie in 2005-06, he recorded 19 goals and 19 assists for 38 points.

Norstrom, an AHL All-Star in 1995, is the Kings’ all-time leader in games played among defensemen (780) and had worn the captain’s "C" for Los Angeles since the 2001-02 season. A veteran of 823 career NHL games with the Kings (1996-2007) and the New York Rangers (1994-1996), Norstrom has registered 149 points (16g, 133a) with 613 penalty minutes.
