Ducks, Maple Leafs deal

The Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL's Norfolk Admirals, have acquired defenseman Jesse Blacker and third-round and seventh-round selections in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft from the Toronto Maple Leafs, parent club of the AHL's Toronto Marlies, in exchange for center Peter Holland and right wing Brad Staubitz.
The third-round pick becomes a second-round selection should certain conditions be met. The 2014 seventh-round pick returns to Anaheim after originally being sent to Toronto with right wing Ryan Lasch in exchange for center David Steckel.
Anaheim has assigned Blacker to Norfolk. Holland will report to the Maple Leafs and Staubitz has been assigned to the Marlies.
Blacker, 22, has logged an assist, four penalty minutes, and a plus-1 rating in five games played with the Marlies this season. The 6-foot-2, 190-pound blueliner has totaled 29 points (6g, 23a) with a plus-5 rating and 110 penalty minutes in 130 career American Hockey League games with the Marlies.
The Toronto native was selected by the Maple Leafs in the second round (58th overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
Holland, a 22-year-old native of Caledon, Ont., was originally Anaheim’s first-round choice, selected 15th overall, in the 2009 Entry Draft. This season, the 6-foot-2, 194-pound center played four games for Anaheim scoring one goal and adding two penalty minutes. In 10 AHL games with Norfork he registered a team-leading nine points (five goals, four assists) along with 22 penalty minutes.
In 29 career NHL games, Holland has earned five goals, two assists and eight minutes in penalties.
Staubitz, 29, played six games for Norfolk this season and tallied 10 minutes in penalties. In 230 career NHL games with San Jose, Minnesota, Montreal and Anaheim, the 6-foot-1, 207-pound native of Bright’s Grove, Ont., has registered 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists) and 520 penalty minutes.
Staubitz has played 243 career AHL games with Norfolk, Houston, Worcester and Cleveland, totaling seven goals, 29 assists and 726 penalty minutes.
