Ducks, Panthers exchange forwards

The Anaheim Ducks, parent club of the AHL’s San Diego Gulls, have acquired forward Logan Shaw from the Florida Panthers, parent club of the AHL’s Springfield Thunderbirds, in exchange for forward Michael Sgarbossa.

Shaw, 24, is tied for the Springfield team lead with four goals and has six points in 13 AHL games this season. In 147 career AHL games with Springfield, Portland and San Antonio, Shaw has amassed 29 goals and 24 assists for 53 points along with 55 penalty minutes. He has also skated in five Calder Cup Playoff games.

Selected by Florida in the third round of the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Shaw has collected five goals and two assists in 53 career NHL games with the Panthers. He made his Stanley Cup Playoffs debut last spring, appearing in three games with Florida.

Sgarbossa, 24, earned two assists in nine games with the Ducks this season, and had one goal in two AHL games with San Diego. In 19 career NHL games with Anaheim and Colorado, Sgarbossa has collected three assists and 14 PIM.

Sgarbossa has played 230 AHL games with San Diego, Norfolk and Lake Erie, registering 52 goals and 95 assists for 147 points. He had one goal and four assists in five playoff games with the Gulls in 2016.
