Falcons’ Jeffrey named Player of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. … The American Hockey League announced today that Springfield Falcons center Dustin Jeffrey has been selected as the CCM/AHL Player of the Week for the period ending Nov. 1, 2015.

Jeffrey notched two goals and five assists for seven points along with a plus-4 rating in three games last week as the Falcons erupted for their first three wins of the season. 

On Wednesday night vs. Bridgeport, Jeffrey assisted on the game-winning tally as Springfield picked up a 5-1 victory over the Sound Tigers. On Friday, Jeffrey scored a power-play goal and a shorthanded goal and added another assist as Springfield rolled past Rochester, 6-1.And on Sunday afternoon, Jeffrey recorded three assists in the third period to lead the Falcons to a come-from-behind 5-2 win at Providence. With Jeffrey leading the way, Springfield scored 16 goals in three games last week after having totaled seven goals in its first five contests of 2015-16. 

Jeffrey leads the Falcons with four goals, seven assists and 11 points through eight games this season, and is tied for sixth in the AHL in overall scoring. The eighth-year pro from Sarnia, Ont., has skated in 280 career AHL games, totaling 85 goals and 154 assists for 239 points, and was a Calder Cup champion with Texas in 2014. Jeffrey was a 2007 draft choice by Pittsburgh, and has notched 17 goals and 14 assists in 124 career NHL games with Pittsburgh and Dallas. 

In recognition of his achievement, Jeffrey will be presented with an etched crystal award prior to an upcoming Falcons home game.
