Falcons sign veteran Bombardir

The Springfield Falcons announced today that they have signed veteran Brad Bombardir to a professional tryout contract.

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound defenseman out of Powell River, B.C., has spent seven seasons in the NHL with New Jersey, Minnesota and Nashville, winning a Stanley Cup with the Devils in 2000.

A third-round draft pick by New Jersey in 1990, Bombardir spent his first three pro seasons in the AHL with the Albany River Rats, registering 11 goals and 55 assists in 194 games and capturing a Calder Cup championship in 1995.

Bombardir has skated in 356 career NHL contests, totaling eight goals and 46 assists.

“Brad brings a tremendous amount of both AHL and NHL experience to our team,” said Falcons president and general manager Bruce Landon. “We are excited to add another defenseman with experience that will only add to the depth of our blueline.”
