Fixter joins Rochester as assistant coach

The Rochester Americans announced Monday that Paul Fixter has been hired as an assistant coach. Fixter joins assistant coach Chris Taylor and goaltending coach Bob Janosz on Amerks head coach Randy Cunneyworth’s staff.

Fixter, 52, has spent the last two seasons as head coach of the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockeky League. He served as an associate coach and assistant general manager of Kitchener (OHL) from 2008-13, and two years as head coach of Rio Grande Valley (CHL) from 2006-08.

Fixter’s previous AHL coaching experience came with the Hershey Bears, where he served as assistant coach from 2001-03 and head coach from 2003-05. Prior to that, Fixter was video coordinator for the Colorado Avalanche and was a part of two Stanley Cup championship teams (1996, 2001).
