Flames acquire Hamilton from Colorado

The Calgary Flames, parent club of the AHL’s Stockton Heat, announced Sunday that they have acquired center Freddie Hamilton from the Colorado Avalanche in exchange for a conditional seventh-round pick in the 2016 NHL Draft.

Hamilton will report to the Heat.

A fifth-round draft pick by San Jose in 2010, Hamilton appeared in 17 NHL games with the Avalanche last season, scoring a goal for his first career NHL point. He also tallied two goals and two assists in five AHL games with Lake Erie.

Hamilton, a native of Toronto, has skated in 145 career AHL contests, totaling 37 goals and 36 assists for 73 points. He set career highs with 22 goals, 21 assists and 43 points with Worcester in 2013-14.

Hamilton has one goal in 29 career NHL games between Colorado and San Jose.
