Flames acquire Shinkaruk from Canucks

The Calgary Flames announced today that they have acquired forward Hunter Shinkaruk from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for center Markus Granlund. The Flames also announced that Shinkaruk will be assigned to their AHL affiliate Stockton Heat.

 

Shinkaruk, a Calgary native, was drafted by the Canucks in the first round (24th overall) in the 2013 NHL Draft. This season, the 21-year-old has 39 points (21G, 18A) in 45 games with the Utica Comets of the American Hockey League and is leading Utica and tied for 19th in the AHL scoring race. The 5’11” winger made his NHL debut this season on November 16, 2015 for Vancouver against Montreal.
