Flames sign Grant to one-year deal

The Calgary Flames, parent club of the AHL’s Stockton Heat, have signed forward Derek Grant to a one-year contract.

In 2014-15, Grant played 73 games for the Binghamton Senators of the AHL, where he notched 21 goals and added 17 assists for 38 points. He has appeared in 256 career AHL games over his pro career, totaling 61 goals and 56 assists for 117 points.

Additionally, Grant has recorded one goal and two assists in 14 career postseason games, and was a member of Binghamton’s Calder Cup championship team in 2011.

The 25-year-old has played 25 career NHL games for Ottawa and has two assists and four penalty minutes.

Grant, a native of Abbotsford, B.C., was originally drafted in the fourth round (119th overall) in the 2008 NHL Draft by Ottawa.
