Former All-Star defensemen swapped

The San Jose Sharks have re-assigned defenseman Danny Groulx to the Chicago Wolves, while the Vancouver Canucks have re-assigned defenseman Derek Joslin to the Worcester Sharks.

Joslin, an AHL All-Star in 2009 during his first stint with Worcester, has posted two goals and eight assists in 53 games with the Wolves this season. The 26-year-old blueliner has amassed 28 goals, 81 assists, 109 points and 153 penalty minutes in 260 career AHL tilts with Chicago, Charlotte, Worcester and Cleveland.

Joslin also has tallied four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 114 career NHL games with San Jose and Carolina. He was originally drafted by the Sharks in 2005 and had 96 points (26g, 70a) in 201 games with Worcester from 2007-10.

Groulx has tallied four goals and 12 assists for 16 points in 33 games with Worcester this season, his 11th professional campaign.

The 31-year-old native of LaSalle, Que., won the Eddie Shore Award as the outstanding defenseman in the AHL in 2009-10 when he notched 14-52-66 and a plus-17 rating in 80 games for Worcester. Overall, Groulx has registered 42 goals and 170 assists for 212 points in 528 AHL games with Worcester, Rockford, Manitoba, Hamilton and Grand Rapids, and was a member of the Bulldogs’ Calder Cup championship team in 2007.

Groulx appeared in the AHL All-Star Classic and was named a First Team AHL All-Star in 2010.
