Griffins sign McIntyre to AHL pact

The Grand Rapids Griffins have agreed to terms with center David McIntyre on a one-year American Hockey League contract.

McIntyre, 26, spent the last two seasons with the Houston Aeros, recording 15 goals and 18 assists for 33 points along with a team-best plus-19 rating in 68 games in 2012-13. He also recorded two goals and an assist in five games vs. Grand Rapids during the Western Conference Quarterfinals.

A 2006 draft pick by Dallas, McIntyre has skated in 221 career AHL games with Lowell/Albany and Houston, tallying 46 goals and 55 assists for 101 points. The Pefferlaw, Ont., native made his NHL debut with Minnesota in 2011-12, notching a goal and an assist in seven games.

Prior to turning professional, McIntyre spent four seasons (2006-10) at Colgate University. While a member of the Raiders, he recorded 131 points (56-75—131) in 151 games and was a two-time member of the ECAC All-Academic Team (2008 and 2009). He was also named to the ECAC First All-Star Team in 2009 and to the Second All-Star Team in 2010.
