Gulls punch ticket to postseason

The San Diego Gulls became the second team to clinch a berth in the 2017 Calder Cup Playoffs thanks to Stockton’s 5-4 shootout loss at Texas on Saturday evening.

The Gulls sit second in the Pacific Division, chasing San Jose for the top spot.

San Diego heads to the postseason for the second time in as many seasons under head coach Dallas Eakins since joining the AHL in 2015. The Gulls were eliminated by Ontario in the second round of last year’s playoffs.

Three weeks remain in the 2016-17 regular season; for more information and daily updates on the Calder Cup Playoff races, check out the official AHL Playoff Primer.
