Heat keep cool with outdoor win

WEST SACRAMENTO, Calif. (theahl.com) Oliver Kylington scored the go-ahead goal with 12:34 left in regulation to send the Stockton Heat to a 3-2 victory over the Bakersfield Condors in the Golden State Hockey Rush outdoor game at Raley Field on Saturday evening.

It was the eighth outdoor game in AHL history, and the seventh to be decided by a single goal.

Derek Grant and Drew Shore also scored for the Heat, and Joni Ortio stopped 33 of 35 shots in the win.

Kyle Platzer scored both goals for the Condors, who had won three of their previous four meetings with Stockton this season.

Ben Scrivens made 35 saves for Bakersfield, becoming the first goaltender ever to start two AHL outdoor games in his career. Scrivens was the winning goalie in Toronto’s 7-2 win at Ivor Wynne Stadium in Hamilton in 2012.

Game time temperature was 52 degrees and skies were partly cloudy throughout the contest, which had been postponed from Friday night because of rain.
