The Detroit Red Wings have acquired defenseman Kyle Wood from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for defenseman Oliwer Kaski.

Wood, 23, has collected three goals and two assists in 14 games with Charlotte this season. In 201 career AHL contests with Charlotte, San Jose, Tucson and Springfield, Wood has totaled 26 goals and 76 assists for 102 points.

An AHL All-Star and a member of the AHL All-Rookie Team in 2016-17, Wood was originally selected by Colorado in the third round of the 2014 NHL Draft.

Kaski, 24, has tallied two goals and three assists in 19 games with the AHL’s Grand Rapids Griffins this season, his first pro campaign in North America.

Last year, Kaski registered 51 points in 59 games with Pelicans of the Finnish Liiga, leading all league defensemen in goals (19) and points. He also won a gold medal with Finland at the 2019 IIHF World Championship.

Kaski signed with Detroit on May 28, 2019.
