January 23, 2014
The St. John’s IceCaps and the American Hockey League will celebrate Newfoundland and Labrador’s rich culture and the AHL’s colorful history in a pair of special events at the St. John’s Convention Centre as part of the AHL All-Star Classic presented by Assante Wealth Management, Feb. 10 through Feb. 12.
On Feb. 10, a Taste of Newfoundland and Labrador will be presented by the Newfoundland and Labrador Department of Tourism, Culture and Recreation. The St. John’s Convention Centre will be transformed into an outport community providing out-of-towners a first-hand experience of the province’s unique culture and heritage. In addition to live entertainment by traditional Newfoundland group Shanneyganock, guests – including the All-Stars – will enjoy a wide array of Newfoundland and Labrador delicacies.
On Feb. 12, fans can experience the history of the AHL at the American Hockey League Hall of Fame Induction and Awards Ceremony presented by Pepsi. This year’s inductees into the AHL Hall of Fame include Bill Dineen, Al MacNeil, Bob Perreault and St. John’s native John Slaney.
