IceCats’ Granato diagnosed with cancer

Worcester IceCats General Manager of Hockey Operations Larry Pleau today announced the club has been informed that head coach Don Granato has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

Granato has returned to his hometown outside of Chicago to begin immediate treatment.

In Granato’s absence, assistant coach Steve Pleau will assume the head coaching duties for the balance of the season. St. Louis Blues head coach Mike Kitchen, who has recently been assisting Pleau, will remain in Worcester.

Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, or Hodgkin’s Disease, is a malignant growth of cells in the lymph system.
