IceHogs clinch postseason berth

The Rockford IceHogs clinched a berth in the 2016 Calder Cup Playoffs on Wednesday night by virtue of their 2-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers.

The IceHogs (37-20-10-4, 88 points) are locked in a battle for positioning in the Central Division with Milwaukee, Grand Rapids and Lake Erie, who have all already punched their playoff tickets.

This will be Rockford’s second straight postseason trip after missing the playoffs four years in a row previously.

Eight of the 16 playoff spots in the American Hockey League postseason have now been claimed. For more information and daily updates on the playoff races, check out the official AHL Playoff Primer
