Iowa Wild name Frederickson team president
The Iowa Wild of the American Hockey League today announced that Todd Frederickson has been named the team’s first President. Frederickson has served as the AHL’s Vice President of Team Business Services since 2008, leading the league to five consecutive years of ticket sales and corporate sales growth.
Frederickson will begin his duties with the Wild in mid-May.
Under Frederickson’s leadership, the AHL Team Business Services program has been recognized as one of the most innovative and successful in all of sports. Focused on real-time data collection and the analysis of that data to establish benchmarks and best practices for use by all member clubs, the program has helped the American Hockey League become a sports industry leader in business growth over the past five years.
“Todd has given outstanding service to the AHL over the past five years,” said AHL President and CEO David Andrews. “On behalf of our teams and our Board of Governors, I thank him and wish him and his family all the best in Iowa.”
“We are thrilled to add someone of Todd’s caliber and experience to our new franchise in Iowa,” Minnesota Wild Chief Operating Officer Matt Majka said. “Todd’s priorities will be building a first-rate staff and connecting with the community. He will have our full support from Minnesota.”
Before joining the AHL, Frederickson served as Director of Ticket Sales for the Georgia Force of the Arena Football League. Prior to that, Frederickson spent 10 years in the ticketing department of the AHL’s Chicago Wolves, including three years as their executive director of ticket sales and service. The Wolves led the AHL in attendance during the 2004-05 season, averaging better than 9,200 fans per game.
The Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich., native, is a graduate of Denison University in Granville, Ohio.
The Iowa Wild will begin play in the American Hockey League in the 2013-14 season. The team will be the top developmental affiliate of the National Hockey League’s Minnesota Wild. The Iowa Wild will play at Wells Fargo Arena, a 16,000-seat arena in Des Moines.
