Jets, IceCaps extend agreement

True North Sports & Entertainment, in conjunction with the Winnipeg Jets Hockey Club, are proud to announce an extension of their current American Hockey League affiliation with the St. John’s IceCaps for one additional season.

This extension will continue the partnership through the 2014-15 season.

“One year ago we were thrilled with the opportunity to partner with Glenn Stanford and Danny Williams in an effort to return the American Hockey League to St. John’s,” said Craig Heisinger, director of hockey operations and assistant general manager of the Winnipeg Jets. “As an affiliated organization, we were immediately rewarded by the success of the St. John’s IceCaps on the ice and the immense community support off of it. We are excited about the chance to extend our affiliation with the IceCaps and the city of St. John’s and look forward to strengthening this relationship.”

The inaugural season of the St. John’s IceCaps was a proven success both on and off the ice. The IceCaps earned a 43-25-5-3 regular season record, reached the conference final, sold out all 46 home games, contributed to local charities financially and through player appearances and brought hockey excitement back to St. John’s.

Among the players to dress for both the St. John’s IceCaps and Winnipeg Jets this past season, the list includes Spencer Machacek, Ben Maxwell, Patrice Cormier, Aaron Gagnon, Brett Festerling, Mark Scheifele and IceCaps captain Jason Jaffray.

“I am so pleased to announce to fans and our corporate partners that our St. John’s IceCaps will be around for at least a fourth season,” said Danny Williams, President and CEO of the St. John’s IceCaps. “The level of support that we have received has been nothing short of extraordinary, and our entire organization is more motivated than ever before to ensure we deliver an outstanding fan experience as we move forward.”
